Game 7: Devils vs. Buffalo Sabres
Devils give up first goal... again... but beat Sabres 5-4.
It’s Monday, this game happened Friday night, I’m behind.
But once again, the Devils gave up the first goal of the game. Bailed out by the ability to score 5 goals once again, Devils beat Sabres 5-4.
For Jack, one thing stood out…
Acquiring from underneath
One thing I’ve started to see from Jack is his eagerness to acquire pucks from underneath.
Often times occurring when the Devils have possession, Jack will work to support the puck from below - much like how you see teams break in on the powerplay.
I think the most dangerous scenario for this skill is when Jack is accelerating below a stretch pass to a linemate up ice. This allows for his linemate to simply bump the puck back into space. Jack acquires this puck while accelerating into a loose defensive gap.
Just another spot where Jack can create offensive advantages. It causes the Sabres and other opponents to question their gaps and aggressiveness during a rush against. Jack is always keeping opponents on edge.
